Alice L. O'Connell

Alice Louise O'Connell. American author of only two books as far as I can ascertain. These form a short series about a girl called Pamela and her mare. Both of these are rare and sought after with lovely illustrations by Paul Brown.

SUMMARY: Nine year old Pam is terrified of horses, so she is not happy when she has to spend the summer at her grandparent's stud farm. However, there she befriends a little filly which is being hand-reared. The tiny and helpless creature does not scare her like the full grown horses. When the filly Frosty Morning starts to grow older Pam determines to overcome her fear in order to be able to learn to ride her. Each summer she spends riding and training the mare until she becomes a promising show horse. But then Pam's Grandpa is offered a large amount of money to sell Frosty. Pam knows that he must sell horses in order to keep his business afloat but how can she bear to be parted from her beloved mare?
